Launching Operation SafeKillie
Operation SafeKillie is a newly launched initiative in East Ayrshire aimed at addressing the increase in incidents occurring in Kilmarnock town centre. The scheme brings together multiple partners—including local authorities, emergency services, and community organisations—to enhance public safety, reduce antisocial behaviour, and ensure that people in the area can enjoy a safer environment, particularly during busy weekends and evenings.
Through increased visibility of support teams, better coordination between services, and a focus on prevention and early intervention, Operation SafeKillie works to protect both the public and frontline workers, while easing pressure on emergency services.
Our Team
We are a frontline medical staff working to ease the strain on ambulance services and hospital emergency departments by delivering immediate care in Kilmarnock Town Centre. Our goal is to ensure individuals receive the appropriate support from the most suitable services.
Each person brings unique skills and experiences that help enhance the quality and reach of our service.
The medical street team itself is made up of trained individuals from a wide range of clinical and healthcare backgrounds, including First Aiders, FREC 3 and FREC 4 responders, Ambulance Technicians, Nurses & Paramedics.
Our Services
The team will include a Medical Controller with direct communication links to the necessary additional services needed if the team cant provide all treatment needed onsite or if they need more resource. Supporting them will be a Welfare Team and trained Responders, working together to provide on-the-ground care and assistance where it's needed most.
When & Where
We will be based in the middle of the town centre & Our operational times are:
Friday - 19:00 to 02:30
Saturday - 19:00 to 04:00
We will also be present during key community events, including: Easter Sunday, Halloween, Hogmanay, Major football days & Other large-scale local gatherings
By being present during these high-traffic times, Operation SafeKillie aims to ensure that individuals in need of help receive the right support quickly and effectively—making Kilmarnock town centre safer for everyone.
